Lillian Marie Martinez
is a studier of magical girls and monstresses.
She is a PhD Candidate and Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Florida’s Department of English.
Her research centers on girlhood, monsters, comics, and video games. She is particularly concerned with visual rhetoric, articulations of the monstrous-feminine, and the intersection of comic and video game conventions.
She is currently writing a dissertation focused on transformation in comics and manga, tentatively titled: “The Monstress Arrives: Fantastic Transformations in Comics and Manga from 2010s-2020s.”
When not writing, she's playing the latest entry in the Final Fantasy franchise, doodling, or napping with her cats.
